General manager Park Jun-hyuk (43), who was appointed as the new general manager of the professional baseball Lotte Giants, had been working as the team's front office, but suddenly submitted a letter of resignation last year.
He joined the Lotte Group in 2007 through open recruitment and was only looking at the 'Giants'.
It has been 15 years since he joined the baseball team, and he was mentioned as a candidate for the next general manager after holding various important positions.
After leaving the club, he suddenly transformed into a professional manager (CEO) of a coffee franchise, and people thought he had completely severed ties with Lotte, but he eventually returned to the Giants.
On the 1st, Lotte Club announced, “We have appointed former personnel team leader Park Joon-hyuk as the new general manager.”
Lotte Club, which previously appointed new coach Kim Tae-hyung, judged that Director Park was the right person to preserve its tradition and transform it into a sustainable strong team.
CEO Lee Kang-hoon, who had tried to dissuade Director Park from leaving the club until the end last year, is known to have played a leading role in bringing him back.
Director Park, who worked at Lotte Club from a new employee, has experience in all aspects of work, including international affairs, marketing, public relations, operations, and human resources.
He is fluent in English and Japanese, and worked as a business manager during the business partnership with Chiba Lotte Marlins, a Japanese professional baseball team.
General Manager Park, who said, “Even after leaving the baseball team, I thought about ways to help the Giants become a sustainable strong team,” now has the opportunity to make his dream come true by taking charge of the team’s affairs.
Director Park, who resigned from his position as CEO of the coffee franchise, will clean up his personal affairs and return to work at the club on the 2nd to begin his work in earnest.
In a phone call, Director Park said, “The interview for the general manager took place in early October,” and “I have already had a phone conversation with coach Kim Tae-hyung once.”
Lotte, which finished this season in 7th place, appointed new coach Kim Tae-hyung and began a fresh start early on.
Director Park said that there will be no problem working with Coach Kim at all and that he will focus on providing support so that he can achieve good results.
Director Park said, "I worked in the operations team for a long time and had a lot of relationships with Director Kim on the field.
We have a special relationship and a really good relationship.
I look forward to the future."
The composition of the coaching staff is also scheduled to be finalized soon.
What stands out among Lotte's coaching staff this time is the 'return of a legend.'
Joo Hyung-kwang, who was one of the key players in Lotte's final advance to the Korean Series in 1999, returns as first-team pitching coach, and coach Kim Joo-chan, who was at the forefront of Lotte's attack under former manager Jerry Royster, also returns.
Former SSG Landers coach Kim Min-jae, a member of Lotte's 1992 Korean Series championship, will serve as Lotte's first-team head coach for the new season.
General Manager Park said, “We communicated with the club regarding the appointment of a new coach (even before the announcement of the appointment of the general manager),” and added, “I think it is important to create a system while protecting the club’s legacy and tradition.
Coaches Joo Hyung-kwang and Kim Joo-chan are part of that.” introduced.
Although it has not been announced yet because the postseason is not over, Lotte's coaching staff for the new season is in the process of being confirmed.
General Manager Park predicted a hectic pace in the Stove League, saying, “The goal is to create a strong, sustainable team.
To this end, we will work hard internally at the club.”
